These examples outline how much a hospital stay could cost and how much you would pay under two scenarios: (1) if you have a medical plan and use network providers, or (2) if you have no insurance at all. Amounts shown are illustrative only. Notice that a person with insurance saves money two ways—first, because the hospital charges the health plan a negotiated fee that is less than the standard fee, and second, because the health plan picks up the costs.
